Hi all,
Just to let you know that we will no longer be posting on this blog site. However we have a new site. Check out our learning at Room 7 Blog.

At Ruapotaka School we are a Duffy School. On Monday the 12th September we were lucky enough to have Duffy Ambassador Jack Tame come and visit our school and present us with some Duffy Books.
While Jack was here he told us all about his amazing job as a journalist. He gets to travel the whole world meeting famous people, talking to them and then putting his talks together for us to watch. He has even met Israel Adesanya.
Jack went on a trip to Antartica, not many people get to go there as you have to be invited. While there he was given a helicopter for the day and he got to go wherever he wanted to do his filming. How amazing is that.
After the assembly he came into our classes and we got to have pictures taken with him.
Thanks for coming Jack, we hope to meet you again sometime.
SAILING
Today we got to have a go at sailing thanks to the "Have a go" sailing programme. We got shown how to rig up an optimist yacht and then go to have a go at sailing them. We had 2 people in each yacht as we worked out to make turns and control the optimist. We also got to practice capsizing the yachts and then getting them back up the right way.
It was so much fun. A massive thinks to the amazing instructors who taught us. Tamaki College for letting us use their vans to take us and for Mike for giving up his time to drive the vans. Here are some pictures of our adventurous day.
Today in class Mrs Baines came back and did an awesome science experiment with us.
We were learning how to design and build a structure that could stand for 20 seconds by itself and was as tall as we could possibly make it.
The materials we had we only tape and paper. It was fun and challenging at the same time. There was lots of great team work.
